National Board Renewal

For JCS NBCTs who are up for renewal (in the 8th or 9th year of certification):

Are you a National Board Certified Teacher or Counselor? Are you up for renewal in the next few years? Join us for the next support session where candidates will work through their own portfolios in a guided reading setting with support from a trained, renewed, NBCT facilitator. NBCTs are eligible for renewal during their 8th year of NB certification, and in fact, it is highly recommended you begin the process at that time.

NC Forestry Association

Each year the North Carolina Forestry Association also with its partners, the North Carolina Forest Service and the NC Sustainable Forestry Implementation Committee, deliver three regional workshops.  These workshop are designed to educate teachers about forestry and the importance of forestry to the state of North Carolina.  They also include Project Learning Tree curriculum that help teachers be able to translate the forestry information into practical classroom lessons that fall in line with NC State Educational Standards.  We are looking to fill out workshops this year with 120 educators.  The cost is only $50.  The NCFA and its partners pay for all food, lodging, and transportation once at the workshop.  We also pay for a fun activities at each workshop for the teachers. NBPTS announces the 15-16 cycle open to new candidates!

The JCS spring information session will take place on TUESDAY, MAY 19, 2015 from 4:00 - 5:30 PM at SMITHFIELD-SELMA HIGH SCHOOL.  If any of your JCS colleagues are interested, please enroll in My Learning Plan.

NEW candidates can create a National Board account, register for National Board Certification, and select and pay for Components 1, 2, and/or 3.

RETURNING candidates who participated in the 2014-15 cycle will now be able to select new components for 2015-16.
