JCPS Leadership Programs

Calling all teacher leaders! JCPS has partnered with RTI (Research Triangle Institute) as well as NC State University to provide two innovative programs for aspiring school leaders.

In the spring, the JCPS Educational Leadership Practicum will support teachers interested in becoming a lead learner, instructional leader, and school administrator. In a partnership with RTI, we have created competencies around communication, coaching, instructional leadership, as well as planning for effective professional learning. Participants will commit to 9 paid evening sessions from January 2017 to March 2018 as well as leadership coaching opportunities.

Starting in summer 2018, emerging leaders will embark on the Johnston Principal Leadership Academy (JPLA). This academy is based on NC State’s MSA program, which is ranked as one of the top principal preparation programs in the nation. BB&T Leadership Institute

We are pleased to share that The BB&T Leadership Institute is now entering into our fourth year of supporting leadership development for North Carolina’s public school principals! Friday Institute

The Friday Institute is continuing its MOOCs for Educators offerings, free online courses through which educators can obtain certificates of completion for CEU's. Enrollment is now open for five courses that begin on October 2:
Teaching Foundational Reading Skills (grade K-3 teachers)Computational Thinking and Design (grade 3-12 teachers, all curriculum areas)Learning Differences (all grade level and curriculum area teachers)Teaching Statistics through Inferential Reasoning (grade 6-12 mathematics teachers)
